How I Work
I work in a clear, collaborative way so you know exactly what to expect, from first contact through to delivery.
My focus is simple: turning raw data into clear, decision-ready dashboards that actually get used.
-
Every project starts by understanding what you’re trying to see more clearly. This may happen over email or in a short call, depending on what works best for you. The goal is to understand the decisions you’re making, the questions you need answers to, and who the dashboard is ultimately for.
This ensures the dashboard is designed around real business needs, not just charts or metrics for their own sake.
-
I primarily work with the data you already have, such as Excel files, CSV exports, or regular system reports. You don’t need a perfect dataset or complex infrastructure to get value.
Before any work begins, I’ll review the data and confirm what’s suitable, what can be improved, and what’s realistically achievable. This avoids wasted time and ensures expectations are aligned from the start.
-
Once the requirements are clear, I’ll confirm exactly what the dashboard will include, what questions it will answer, how it will be delivered, and the fixed cost for the work.
This means there are no surprises. You know what you’re getting, when you’ll get it, and what it will cost before anything is built.
-
Behind the scenes, I structure your data so key metrics are defined once and used consistently across the dashboard. Numbers are validated against your existing reports to ensure accuracy and trust.
From your perspective, this results in one reliable view of performance - no conflicting figures, no manual calculations, and no uncertainty about which number is “right”.
-
Dashboards are designed to be calm, clear, and easy to understand. The focus is on surfacing insight quickly, without overwhelming the user with unnecessary detail.
Typically, dashboards include an executive overview for fast understanding, followed by deeper views that explain why performance looks the way it does. Interactivity is included where it adds value, but insight is visible even without clicking.
-
You’ll have the opportunity to review the dashboard before it’s finalised. At this stage, we’ll check whether it answers your original questions, whether anything is unclear, and whether any refinements are needed.
Minor adjustments are part of the process and help ensure the final result fits your business properly.
-
Once approved, the final dashboard is delivered and made ready for use. I’ll ensure it refreshes correctly and explain how to view, share, and use it with confidence.
The aim is for you to be self-sufficient, without needing ongoing explanations or support.
-
Where your setup allows, I can support ongoing reporting through automation or light-touch updates. This is only offered when it’s reliable and low-maintenance, so the dashboard remains stable and trustworthy.
